The Truth Behind Chandrika Dixit’s ‘Vada Pao Girl’ Viral Video
Delhi: Chandrika Dixit has not been arrested, police said on Friday, reacting to a viral video of their arrest of a vada pav seller in Delhi.

Delhi Police has made a shocking statement on social media about the popular ‘Vada Pao Girl’ Chandrika Dixit. Police on Friday reacted to a viral video showing a vada pav vendor being detained by police officers in Delhi, but are now saying that Chandrika Dixit was not arrested and neither has a case been registered against him. In contrast, a video clearly shows the police taking him into custody.

Chandrika Dixit, popularly known as Vada Pao Girl, has been running a food stall in the Mongolpuri area for a few months, police said. A few days ago, a vada pav seller posted a video where she was seen fighting with locals while organizing Dawat or Bhandara near her stall.
Police said his stall was being run without permission from the municipal body MCD and attracted a large number of customers as well as other online food bloggers.

He said that due to the crowd gathering at his stall, traffic problems arose in the area. Police said they have received complaints from residents about traffic jams in the area after organizing roadside Bhandara. He said that when the police team reached the spot, he misbehaved with the officials. His stall was confiscated and he was taken to the police station.

However, when the DCP of Outer Delhi was asked about this, he said, “No case has been registered and Dixit has never been arrested.” Dixit is a street food vendor who runs a Vada Pav stall in Delhi and has over 300K Followers on Instagram. She went viral when she was seen crying on the phone with a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) representative after she claimed he had threatened to remove her stall.
